Synopsis

An Inuit hunter races his sled home with a fresh-caught halibut. Meanwhile, Axel tags fish in New York as a naturalist’s gofer. He’s happy there, but a messenger arrives to bring him to Arizona for his uncle’s wedding as a ruse to get him into the family business. In Arizona, Axel meets two odd women: vivacious, needy, and plagued by neuroses and familial discord. He becomes romantically involved with one, while the other, rich but depressed, plays accordion to a gaggle of pet turtles. —IMDb

Strange and often hilarious film with a great cast, Johnny Depp,Vincent Gallo, Fay Dunaway, Jerry Lewis and Lili Taylor, can't go wrong with that. Depp is pretty fantastic in this role, actually playing a straight character in a weird movie, scenes between him and Dunaway are pretty great but I think overall the cast gel pretty well. Story is off the wall, and I really love how its directed. 8.5/10

What a soundtrack, isn't it? Bregovic knows his job. Also, former communist countries in Europe know what is the cinema :)

I don't understand why no one has seen this and why finding a copy is so hard! Not the most amazing film, there are some definite holes in the story but I loved it for its dream-like imagery and performances!
