Yasuharu Hasebe

Yasuharu Hasebe (長谷部安春 Hasebe Yasuharu, April 4, 1932-June 14, 2009) was a Japanese film director best known known for his movies in the “Violent pink” subgenre of the Pink film, such as Assault! This film may be 'Pinku' by definition but it has greater ambition to be a Real Film. By today's standards it's more of a horror comedy or a giallo. Truth be told, yes, it is incredibly misogynistic, and taken with the horrors of the world I`m not convinced it should exist. But comparisons to films like Natural Born Killers are undeniable. There is an element of actual 'grossness' not found in a typical pinku film.

I could say alot more than space allows, but it should NOT be taken as any kind of recommendation. Only for horror fans, or perhaps fans of Manga-ka or Takashi Miike.

Strikingly beautiful at some points, but it's surprisingly brutal and misogynistic, even more than I was expecting with the title/subject. It has a complete non-ending, and is both a little too short and a little too long somehow, but it's probably worth a watch for genre fans.
