With competition rising, clientele diminishing, and promotional efforts to draw in new customers failing, Gino Roma (the hilarious José Garcia) is facing the reality of losing his family business. Thirty years in Brussels has distanced the proud founder of the first pizzeria in town from his Italian family (and their family business- ‘getting people to do things’), but news of the impending death of his millionaire mafia uncle, and of his promised inheritance is the miracle he’s been praying for. The only requirement – he must be a worthy heir as an ‘active’ family member. After commissioning local filmmakers to shoot a fake documentary to send home to prove he reigns as the godfather of all pizzerias in Brussels, the cameras start rolling on the Adams Family of Cuisine. He may not be a good businessman, but it turns out he’s a pretty good actor – too good perhaps – as he embraces his role with such an appetite that he convinces himself- and the real Mafioso – that he’s the king in Crime’s Kitchen. –Oldenburg Film Festival
