One of Rome’s greatest emperors, Augustus Caesar (Peter O’Toole), rose to power during the Pax Romana, Rome’s Golden Age. Beginning with early military triumphs, when Augustus allied with Julius Caesar, this film re-creates some of history’s most stirring moments.Among those pivotal events are Caesar’s assassination and Augustus’s battles with the armies of Brutus, Cassius, Marc Antony and Cleopatra. Charlotte Rampling plays Augustus’s wife.
