why drama?what happened at the end?i didnt understand since i suck at english.
Deliberately or not, everything on this movie was unemotional, which makes the viewer to keep some distance from what’s happening. Review and rating: http://alwayswatchgoodmovies.blogspot.com/2012/07/avalon-2011.html
★★★ "this has gone to far". first world problems story disguised as a morality tale with a (not very profound) murder twist. Johannes Brost holds the movie, specially when Brian Ferry comes to the foreground.
"Avalon" premier film du réalisateur Axel Petersén s'inscrit dans la tradition des films nordiques découpant au scalpel le charme fascinant, glauque et répugnant de la bourgeoisie égoiste, fêtarde et immature. Johannes Brost est impressionnant dans cette descente aux enfers. Imperceptible référence finale au mythe du roi Arthur, embarqué vers l'île des morts.
OK first feature from director Petersen but truly marred by an enigmatic ending that does the picture no favours. Populated by characters who may share a rich history of shared debaucheries but have failed to truly grow up and lead meaningful lives; still looking for that one more good time. The so-called obstacle seems to be something one could have solved with a call to the local constabulary. Brost well cast.
Amazing drama with great performances all around. Truly one of the best swedish movies ever.

Well, drama because it´s about regular people in real life situations, albeit absurd situations. So maybe drama with a hint of black comedy then. About the end, I didn't really understand it either, but I like open ended movies so that was not a problem for me. Maybe it's sort of a dream sequence, maybe it's just a boat ride at the break of dawn, maybe they're trying to escape... Who knows.
