Back to the Sea

Back to the Sea is centered around Xiao Bao and Kevin. Kevin is the youngest son of a small family of flying fish who dreams of leading them back to Barbados, a paradise for flying fish. Xiao Bao is a quiet Chinese boy who lives in his family operated restaurant in New York’s Chinatown and dreams of being a great explorer. But Xiao pressured by his father who pressures that he is destined to follow in his footsteps and take over the restaurant. Further demanding Xiao and his father is an oncoming cooking competition.

Kevin finds himself taken away to shore by a fishing ship and is placed in the fish tank of the restaurant. The other fish in the tank are unaware of their surroundings and dismiss tales of the sea as “a fairy tale”. Kevin and Xiao soon become good friends and Xiao promises to help Kenny, and two new-found fish friends, escape the tank and follow his dreams of returning to his homeland. —The Forbidden D.B.
