Attali was sent to Dakar in 1993 by the INA as an expert on post-production for a Senegalese soap opera. She returned a month later and started going back and between Paris and Dakar, where she has made most of her films. In January 2004 she became a Senegalese national.

From childhood, the seventh art genuinely fascinated Laurence Attali. However she first studied philosophy, and later studied the history of cinema at Censier Paris I. She then took a six-month apprenticeship in the editing room. “I think philosophy and editing are very related. They cultivate the spirit of synthesis.
