What's with the cutting off of all those penises? Did I count 3? (the man hanging from a tree - whose liver was cooked - seemed to have been castrated as well). It felt very Pasoliney, which is good. Always a ball seeing Franco Citti and Ninetto Davoli being crude and vulgar...detail: the scene where they were supposed to take a dump, did I see a little stream of urine, flowing under Ninetto? I think I did.
Uneven anthology only somewhat achieves what it seems to reach for, these stories aren't nearly as raucous as you'd expect. But the second and third entries in particular are amusingly absurd and the framing device works well. Entertaining, but not quite a classic.
