Absolutely excellent! Also I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was filmed at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.

Stands the test of time. I cried like a baby during the final moments.
A fine film, but Hal Ashby should be posthumously fined for putting that blooper reel in at end.
"Being There". Sort of a Forrest Gump spiritual precursor. An amazing performance by Peter Sellers.
I disagree with the last poster, this a very entertaining film. It's the story of a man breaching the corridors of power, an exploding of a closed world and all its absurdities - or, better still, how friends are won and influenced. NB: I second Jake Mulligan's point bellow: erm, it should be changed.
Nice idea, message and acting performance, but also a bit naive and too slow so it gets boring.
Sellers, the greatest comedic actor of all time, giving what might be his finest performance
As a comment on our outlook on life, the confusion of televisions influence, the discourse and complexity of politics, the film gives a rather positive answer. Harmony and peace in life is all a state of mind. However, the execution of that idea, while technically quite marvelous, wasn't really felt by myself. Sure, Sellers gives an incredible, nuanced performance, but the pacing was lacking, and at times I felt myself quite bored. The message is strong and relevant, but I had some problems with my engagement with the film.
I started out skeptical about this film, and became unfortunately disheartened during the first hour--fearing the Gump Complex (that perhaps I'd seen a worse version of this film)--but things changed quickly from there. By the time the film ended (and I watched the entire credits) I was laughing so loudly I'm sure I woke someone up. But it's not the laughter I'll remember, but the moments of introspection that ensure this film, like *Network*, are brilliant and continually relevant critiques on modern Western society that are few and far between these days. Bravo.
someone please change the still. it's a good film, has a lot of other intriguing shots, other than the last shot/scene!!
Beautiful interior shots compliment this bizarre satire and give incredible warmth to an already heartwarming story. Peter Seller's even manages to seduce men and women alike with his insightful remarks. Very true to the book minus a few scenes.
