I probably shouldn't be allowed to comment on a film I didn't finish watching. But I must say, this movie blows. Boring and gross and pointless. It did however create great fodder for jokes. Haneke IS a master, but this is a terrible movie. Sorry.

i really want to recreate this film shot for shot, but instead i would like to have the girl turn into a zombie and eat everyone.

For what it's worth, this is one of Haneke's more optimistic messages about modern society.

Beautifully crafted film. Extremely well done and very disturbing.

Like The Seventh Continent, it's disturbing because of how blank and un-stylised everything in it is. I think it kind of dropped the ball towards the end and lost that disturbing edge slightly, but it's very good nonetheless.

Was the ending so "moralist"? Perhaps Benny wanted things to not be so cleaned up with his life. His parents offered to cover for him in hopes of maybe preserving a life for him and themselves. In my opinion, and as horrid as it sounds, Benny's confession to the police is just an addendum to the destruction he already brought about. Not saying that it's a bad thing, but it is what it is: his family's entropy.

As with every Haneke film, turn it off the last 5 minutes. Would have been far stronger without the white knighting moralist ending.

this is my fav. haneke film so far. he seems to be the only filmmaker that can get away with glacial pacing (providing the viewer is filling the void with some kind of intellectual curiosity - and there's plenty to be curious about in this one). pretty hardcore film stuff going on here.

Effective in its ability to be unassuming and give nothing below the surface. But this is nothing new, or only to those unaccustomed with Haneke's work.

well-crafted, powerful and lifeless. I'm angry that I watched it.

A very haunting and simple movie. It's horribly violent without the action, it's absolutely terrifying without the suspense.

Well what did expect from someone who resembles Harold Shipman facially?

Upon consuming this I recalled A.Camus's 'The Stranger.' A thorough analysis of the two could prove quite interesting.

One of the most violent feeling movies ever made. Thinking back, perhaps the absence of explicit pictures in White Ribbon was the only option left to Haneke to avoid crossing the thin line between exploitation and critic of society.

The moral dilemma, family important decisions, and in the end socio-psychopath with his new hobby. What is more important family look in society or moral reasonableness? In the end, decisions can have fatal consequences. Love his brilliant slow flow of telling film.

Benny's Video (1992) DIR Michael Haneke SCR Michael Haneke 105 Min There is a truth to surveillance culture as conscience – it is the super-ego at work. Atrocities decline when the perpetrators know the world is watching.

One of the more disturbing of Haneke's work, and a compelling commentary on teen violence. His use of news articles as concepts for his films makes this all the more frightening.
