Betty Blue suggests that with each change, maybe we leave a small part of ourselves behind, until we're broken into jigsaw pieces, left desperate to make ourselves whole again. It's a depressing thought. It's not a happy movie. Read more: http://theoncominghope.blogspot.com/2012/05/betty-blue-or-not-insane-i-just-batshit.html#ixzz1w0QtDlq4
De paixão, amor e morte. Beineix entrega a musa da liberdade, da geração perdida e da solidão. O azul nunca foi tão trágico.
i know i've written about this film before, but it gets me every time i see and and continues to be an incredibly personal film. so epic, and so lovely.
I've seen it said in review on other sites that Betty is suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder but have the filmmaker ever confirmed this? It feels true because a lot of things Betty does in the film hit home for someone who used to date someone with BPD....though I obviously wouldn't have made the choice the guy did in the end.
Je t'aime, Betty Blue. I'm always was captivated with Beineix's film since with Diva. I love his mix of characters and eccentric environments. I love his eye for diversity and beauty in unsual places. Betty Blue is my favorite. I love the actors Anglade and Dalle who interacted with real heart as crazy lovers. That film inspires everytime i watch it. The soundtrack is on my ipod all the time. This movie resonates with me. This more than the l'amour fou, its being in love with life, ceasing every opportunity to create beauty in any obstacle including L'amour. It's all time classic!!!
A messy and vibrant tale of doomed love about a man who falls for a troubled free spirit whose self destructive behavior threatens to tear them apart. Wildly erotic, if occasionally over the top, BETTY BLUE is a quintessential piece of mid-80s arthouse cinema.
Beatrice Dalle is so insanely gorgeous in this! And the boyfriend is every crazy girl's dream.
Singular and extravagant characters driven by their most basic instincts. living love, lust and insanity to its fullest. Pictorially and musically beautiful. A feast for the senses when you have a wacky sense of humour and a weak spot for stories of intense couples in a vital quest.
MUCH better (and longer) than I remember it! Ah... I get it, it must be the Director's Cut at over 3 hours. Now that I am older I see it is something more than a colorful sex romp where the girl has to die so the guy can write again.
Rarely a film is better than a book which the film has been generated from. Betty Blue of Jean-Jacques Beneix is one case
