Really caught me off guard. I hadn’t read too many reviews and was really impressed by the level of detail involved in recreating the look and feel of the ‘70s blaxsploitation films being parodied/paid-tribute-to. Between the performances (Tommy Davidson especially cracked me up in every one of his scenes and Michael Jai White of course put everything he had into the role, physically and comedically), the music cues, the costumes, the camera techniques (or purposeful lack thereof in some cases), the lens filters and the story itself (i.e. Everything) it all created a hilariously organic and nostalgic whole. I love when I go into a film with little expectations and end up loving everything about it. As funny as I’m Gonna Git You Sucka is (I’d really like to watch a double-bill of the two films), it looks like we have a new champ in this very specific subgenre.
