Bailbondsman George Bancroft dallies with thrill-seeking heiress Frances Dee, despite his longtime mistress — debuting-Dame-to-be Judith Anderson — but then finds himself holding the bag after a half-mill bank robbery. –NYFF
Outstanding pre-code Fox...borrowing a bit from Warners (plenty of screen wipes) and Paramount (a full-blown Mae West impersonator)...but offering its own pleasures as well (i.e. Frances Dee's masochistic socialite). Dir Rowland Brown punched a producer...so that was the end of his directing career. Too bad.
