Blue Velvet is one of those movies that just has something magical about it. The mood and the tone is something only Lynch can do. It's also one his less obscure movies, it's easy to understand, but it gives space for your own imagination while provoking it. All the performances are top notch. It's also fun to see how much this movie is somewhat of a prelude to Twin Peaks. Awesome!
Jeffery asks why people like Frank exist. They exist because it is necessary, and without them there would be no "good." A horrific nightmare, or a strange dream. This is one of those great movies I'm in no hurry to watch again.
The blu-ray transfer is fantastic; it's almost like seeing the film again for the first time. The disc also contains some 40 minutes of deleted scenes, previously considered lost. While it was interesting to watch the recovered footage, it wasn't difficult to see why these scenes were cut. Most of them merely illuminate Jeffrey's dreary homelife, though we do find out he was a bit of a voyeur even at school.
Incredible film. Everyone should check out the Blu Ray edition, it looks absolutely superb.
I can't use IMDB anymore because every time I do I am reminded that this film isn't included on the top 250 (a horrible list anyway).
The nightmare that hides behind the white picket fence in small town America. Hoppers' best performance...a little too convincing as a psychopath haha
Watching this movie is like Jeffrey hiding in Dorothy's closet : I just held my breath throughout it.
