Just when Air Force sergeant Chuck Brennan (Karl Malden) is deciding whether to re-up his enlistment or retire, he learns that his brave but reckless commander, pilot Jim Herlihy (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.), has taken a shine to his lovely daughter (Natalie Wood). Now the old veteran, the young flyboy and the beautiful woman must come to terms with their relationships — both on the base and off. Gordon Douglas directs this engaging drama.
