There is really no debate, this is an incredible movie. I think that it’s almost hard to see this and not be absorbed into the characters and meaning of freedom. For anyone who says it’s a bad movie because it’s historically inaccurate, you should really see more movies because none depict true history. This captures the essence of William Wallace and his mission to free the country he loves. Mel Gibson’s vision is beautiful and flawless in execution. He also portrays William Wallace in a way that brings you to tears by the end of his performance. It’s a movie that not only holds up to it’s reputation, it exceeds it ten fold. I believe that it’s everything the historical epic attempts to be, both emotional and filled with large scale adventure.

There were times when I was completely obsessed with this one. I actually knew the lines of characters and the whole movie by heart, and still now days if I play it, it pulls me in completely. Even though the story has quite a difference with an actual history, we got the meaning of it. I know it’s not perfect in a whole way, but it’s still one hell of a history film and for me it will always have a special meaning.

between this and The Patriot, Id say Gibson has shown a truecase of acting abilities. Hes killed as many British and Englishman in these two movies as Hitler did to the Jews and Gypsies during World War II. Some of his best quotes include “You’re right. My sons were better men,” “Freedom,” “Before this war is over Im going to kill you,” “Every man dies. Not every man really lives.” His movies seem to advocate violence, but thats the only way of getting viewers to even give thumbs up.
