A director to keep an eye on. Review and rating: http://alwayswatchgoodmovies.blogspot.com/2012/06/breathing-2011.html
This subtle and meditative directorial debut by Austrian actor Karl Markovics about a troubled boy from juvenile detention who takes a job with a morgue reveals itself artfully, one layer at a time. Performances are all quite good, photography solid and my only gripe was the fake smoking. 3.5 stars
Kind of movie that you watched and will stuck on your mind for a while. Extraordinary.
Great Austrian production, with beautiful photography and good direction by Markovics. Schubert's performance is exceptional, "Atmen" is touching, sensitive and involves us in such a way with the moving drama of Roman Kogler. The ending is optimistic, I hope Kogler has left the Juvenile Detention Center and changed his life.
An extraordinary film about death and life. I liked everything of it. Best Austrian Film this year.
