Bride of Vengeance

In 16th-century Italy, Duke Alfonso d’Este (John Lund) goes to extraordinary lengths to convince the corrupt Cesare Borgia (Macdonald Carey) that he is not a threat, even as he secretly builds a massive cannon to defend his town, Ferrara, against Borgia’s invading troops. Borgia lies to his sister, Lucretia (Paulette Goddard), telling her Alfonso murdered her husband, but Alfonso’s sincerity makes her question her scheme to poison him in revenge.
