Tom Hardy sensacional, história interessante e uma direção tão maluca e inesperada quanto a história.
Stellar performance by Hardy but the movie in itself does not add up to much.
Why did Drive disappoint me? (I mean that in a minor way; I found myself consumed by and gnawing on Ryan Gosling's character and acting choices for weeks--which is the best.) BRONSON.
Hated Drive. Kind of loved this? Some say that The Shining felt somewhat autobiographical for Kubrick. I think Refn sees himself a lot in Bronson. With shades of Wong and Wes, I don't think anyone can doubt that he's a pretty fun stylist. I just hope he takes more risks in material. Bronson is the right direction. Also, how great is Tom Hardy? No one should doubt him again after seeing this.
I really liked this movie, the acting as well as the soundtrack were top notch, but I don't think I could watch it over and over again.
This is just awesome and crazy as well. just an awesome movie and tom hardy made this movie awesome.
Stylistically and emotionally confronting, Refn brings an undeniable energy to the telling of this story. He's supported by Hardy in a completely committed and brave performance. Hardy is great at subtlety so it's off-putting to see him so overt in all of his actions here but it suits the role and the film as a whole and once the viewer is in swing with the rhythm of the piece the film pummels along.
I enjoyed it a lot more the second time. Once I abandoned expectations of a conventional biopic Bronson became a very interesting, hilarious, even tragic piece of film. Not to mention that it is Tom Hardy's beyond magnificent performance which holds everything together. The stage segments are particularly engaging. Pure talent.
Don't worry ! Even Refn, during an interview, confessed that he didn't understand Bronson's psychology and that he put a lot of himself, of his own dark side, in the portrayal of the hero. Moments of surreal poetry alternate with raw violence here. It's interesting but, in my opinion, Bronson can't compare with Valhalla Rising, the director's masterpiece. Already forgotten, unfortunately.
usually not too fond of violence and prisons... but this was quite brilliant. enchanting dialogues, good soundtrack and complex character which i didn't really quite understood and i will probably watch this movie again.
highly stylized ultra-violence. if it hadn't been done before, it'd probably get four stars instead of three.
Tom Hardy's performance, though coming off slightly self-aware, feels like a work of art that outshines the rest of the okay film.
