Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
The complex everyday lives of three teenagers born to a German mother and Turkish father in their neighbourhood Berlin-Kreuzberg are sketched out. The domestic conflicts, dreams and disappointments of three siblings and their aimless, meandering strolls through the Kreuzberg district are followed.
With uncommon authenticity and exceptional performances from its young actors, Thomas Arslan’s “Berlin Trilogy” illuminates the lives of Turkish-Germans in the city. In the first film, an original hip-hop soundtrack and an abundance of Coca-Cola perfectly set the scene of adolescence in the 1990s.
