That's kind of Cohen's reason for making the film.
Supreme work, Sacha since Ali G has come a long way in humor and suprising us with taboo themes that we all share and think. We all respect one another, but we all think internaly so diferently yet so alike in the same way. Sacha brings that out in the open every time he makes a film. Really looking forward to "The Dictator".
I generally love Sacha Baron Cohen and a large majority of his performances. In particular, I'm a big fan of Borat and I really enjoy it. But this is just...wrong. I didn't like it at all, it just wasn't funny and there were some scenes that were just too much for me. The worst part about it was something that was meta. A friend of mine took me to see it and I tried to walk out, but he would not let me. So painful.
I was stoned when I saw this, which I think is probably the best way to go. I don't care if it was terrible- watching Cohen try to seduce Ron Paul was worth the suffering.
Sacha Baron Cohen is an artist without balls, as he chooses to go after soft targets, rather than tough ones. BRUNO is a film born of the Hollywood establishment that looks down on those trying to break in and laughs at them from its ivory tower. It's Hollywood sucking its own dick, a despicable, horrible film that is shameful on every level.
In my opinion, this film is so much better than Borat. There I said it. People don't liked this film simply because it's so tongue in cheek you feel bad if you laugh. It takes the piss excellently, and that's probably why people don't like it, because they feel offended. Protip, if it's by Sacha Baron Cohen, and your easily offended, don't bother looking it up.
"When did you have that boy?...I have no idea why I even asked that question." If you've seen this movie then you know that that is one of the, if not the, most perfect moment of bewildered, defeated disgust ever put on film.
Not nearly as inspired as 'Borat' for a number of reasons - a less endearing title character, the simple fact that it could never be as original the second time around - but it's fast-paced and packs enough raunchy humor and some deceptively smart satire to make it worth watching for fans of Sacha Baron Cohen's unique brand of humor.
If this is "shocking" and "boundary-breaking" to you, then you need to get out more often. Bruno's thin narrative barely, and insufficiently, supports one long drawn out joke which is made apparent in its much more succinct commercial. Still, I enjoyed the African American talk show audience and the religious people trying to convert him scenes.

I like Borat better..Because to my opinion Bruno has less things to say than Borat..And Bruno is more extreme I guess..Extremely Gay..lol..and insane..but the jokes are precise though.OMG Paula Abdul..lol.
Bruno loses the political, cultural grasp on America that Borat had. And the intelligence. But Bruno is great with pissing off rednecks. And terrorists, fashion models, African-Americans, and the military... and of course Ron Paul. And that's still lovely by me!
This film is retarded bad, but it does manage to make the homophobes it satirizes look even more retarded so I'll give it two stars instead of one.
I didn't have any real urge to see this in theaters, however I heard Sacha Baron Cohen shows Ron Paul his dick. Can this be confirmed? If so I'll feel obligated to give it 5 stars without even watching.
This was nasty. I think Baron Cohen pushed it juuuust a little. I've no problem with people being gay. This movie was 100% stereotypical in my opinion. I've several friends who are gay and they are NOTHING like this. Don't go see it. It's a waste of money, especially when compared to a movie like Borat.
Very funny -- but nowhere near as satirical or intelligent as Borat -- and the ending sucks.
