Best 80s comedy IMO. Would have made Jesus laugh. Will make audiences in the year 3000 laugh. Its THE mindless comedy. And it reveals more about American sweetness and pomposity than any other comedy I can think of. The golf club IS America. Its bigoted, full of well-meaning slackers and stiffs resting on their laurels… and Hardy’s. Sorry.

The film combines all forms of humor, high and low brow: scatological, sexual, wordplay, satire, surrealism, non-sequitur. The film is narrated by an animatronic gopher. Who doesn’t see the brilliance in this film?
