Buddies Sid Boggle (Sidney James) and Bernie Lugg (Bernard Bresslaw) take their prudish gal pals (Joan Sims and Dilys Laye) on a camping trip but neglect to mention they’re headed to a nudist colony. When a group of buxom schoolgirls arrives on the scene, comic complications ensue in this madcap British gem replete with sexual overtones, sight gags and double entendres. Kenneth Williams plays the girls’ pretentious headmaster.
Tatty tit-jokes. Something of an icon in the UK, chiefly for flashes of flesh (which in itself should inspire a treatise on prudishness) it’s largely notable for a ramshackle construction that makes you despair at the shoddy continuity. Nevertheless it’s a more significant cultural artefact than earnest offerings from the BFI and Barbara Windsor’s malfunctioning bikini-top should be in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
