Rather accurate portrait of what London has become, a city of greedy, humourless dullards.
Underrated thriller from Allen whose tedium in the first act is overcome by an unbearably tense second and an operatically tragic third. Good performances all around. Nice portrait of what happens when ordinary idiots try to be master criminals; they fail honestly and all-too believably.

I agree underrated! I have to just say that before this film I was not much of a Colin Ferrell fan at all (which is an understatement), however a quarter of the way into this movie I really started to pay attention to Farrell's character (Terry) and I was taken aback! He was beyond SUPERB and worked under Allen perfectly. I give him much credit and will not underestimate him or his acting ability ever again!!!!!! Completely changed my mind! Very good work of Allens. Almost completely void of his typical style but it showed us a fraction of his range and I predict that as Allen ages that this work is going to change considerably and his depth of topic may shift from his norm. But never fear because he always pulls through with something great!
Pretty solid but muted in comparison with Match Point. The scene of the crime is almost unseen and yet piercingly brutal. I really want to see more of this kind from Allen.
Woody Allen could not have finished worse the trio of London. Not only lacks of surprise and intrigue, but the destabilization of the characters was not enough to make it interesting, at least at its end.
Forgettable drama from writer-director Woody Allen is intelligently written, but lacking in any real suspense. Very similar to Allen's 'Match Point' in a lot of ways - well-drawn characters and strong performances - but it lacks that film's clever plot twists. Not a terrible film, but nothing special. Strong - if familiar - score by Phillip Glass.
