Synopsis

The writer Juvacev is almost out of money. A homeless man has been sleeping in front of his door for quite some time. Juvacev spills hot water in the face of a guest and throws him out. He meets a woman. Their first date is a flop. The woman, who has abruptly gained weight, runs off. The following night Juvacev suddenly has a knife and a fork instead of two hands. The house keeper fills his mouth with butter and goes off selling it. The wife of a professor lures Juvacev into her flat and models her stockings for him. At school, the professor holds a lecture on a fish, actually about a person called Patrulev, or more precisely, about this person’s daughter. Two of the three wise man search Juvacev’s room and take along some writings. The professor is poisoned by a woman doctor for experimental reasons, Juvacev is beaten by police officers, the professor’s wife receives a package containing the urn of her husband. — AFC

Congenial staging of dadaistic and absurd textes by Daniil Kharms. In every scene are hidden many references, even to his diaries and notebooks. Perhaps the best film adaptation so far. (A little correcture: English title should be "Kharms' Incidents")
