It would have been better if it was kept to a smaller scale. I wasn't really impressed with big explosions and stuff.
As boys grow, they dream of having superpowers. And during the first part of the film you are taken on a ride on what it feels like to gain such powers and the possibilities it brings. However, the second part is also a reminder that with great power comes great responsibility and even though the build up is great, the ending felt a bit short. Regardless, this is the stuff great entertainment is made of.
Underwhelming. The road to the climax is rather dull, the eventual climax is obvious, and the reasoning for the character's downfall is poorly fleshed out. There is some clever use of the camera technique to supersede the gimmick, so the film is not all for not, can't help but feel like it is just one big wasted opportunity though. It has glimmers of greatness but ultimately fails to construct a fun 80 minute flick.
First two thirds are mostly fine. Final act devolves into a barrage of silly CGI mayhem and hyperbolic emoting. If I wanted to see that, I'd have gone to see "The Avengers" instead of sitting home alone watching this.
