In my opinion this is Spielberg’s signature film. It has a sense of wonder that holds true as much when I watch it now as it did when I watched it as a child. The special effects in this are beautiful, and better than most modern effects today… every effect is used to tell part of the story as well, they’re not just icing on the cake. John Williams’ score is fantastic… a true old-style hollywood epic score that mixes in a tune integral to the story itself, with Disney’s classic “When You Wish Upon a Star”.
