Police officer Georg (Matthias Brandt) is very popular among his colleagues for being calm and cool-headed. His partner, Michael (Wotan Wilke Mšhring), also admires him for his seemingly harmonious marriage to Anne (Victoria Trauttmansdorff), an attractive primary-school teacher. After Georg is promoted, he begins to lose “intact” family life. One Christmas, the conflicts that have been dominating the couple’s lives for years start to surface. Anne struggles for recognition, Georg attempts to suit everyone’s needs, and their children helplessly look away from the physical violence that can no longer be hidden. —http://www.phaidon.com
