@Jenny M I hope that's not what feminism is. If so, it'd be one of the most obnoxious movements ever created!
An imperfect masterpiece. Hilarious, touching and complex. Probably my favorite lighting in any film. Something about those Czechs, man... (9.2/10)
What makes this film such a dear effort to me, is Chytilová's hunger for absolute dominance over the medium. Her approach doesn't stop being radical on attitudes alone, it instead permeates over every single aspect of this film, everything from the few shreds of a plot it follows to the brash yet incredible collages and intrincated montages feel not only vital but coming from the heart as well.
siento un brote de felicidad cada que veo esto, la mejor película de la vida definitivamente
An anarcho-feminist, Czech New Wave predecessor to Beavis and Butt-Head. Is it supposed to be a critique of capitalism? Probably. Is it supposed to be whimsical and fun? Definitely, and that's why I enjoyed it.
Two girls decide to act like brats and cause mischief. That's really all that happens; the fact that the most memorable part of the film is its visual presentation (some shots are full colour, others sepia tinted, etc) is a reminder that this is a real case of style over substance. I'm also baffled as to why some label this as "feminist". Sponging off older men in restaurants is feminist? Really?

Two pouty-lipped girls decide to act spoiled. They succeed. Sometimes visually creative and interesting but never compelling. Also rather food-obsessed.
a glorious, madcap, technicolour comedy that penetrates and takes up scissors. take one part hannah hoch, mix liberally with some carolee schneemann and yoko ono, and simmer on high. fuck judy chicago, this is the dinner party you must attend. visions this rich shouldn't be this carefree, or infectious. time for cake.
Wow! I wasn't expecting something like this... I loved it! But now I really need to eat something!
why arn't more films like this. chytilova i salute you - 1966 ahead of its time is an understatement
!! I can't believe I just came around to this. What a beauty! Spontaneous unadulterated feminine energy. I actually didn't know who made the film until now, but now that I know that it was made by a woman, it actually adds quite a bit to the whole experience. Makes me wonder if there isn't something of these two girls in Rivette's Celine and Julie..
whoaa...!!...a screeching anarchic feminine voice smashing everything in it's way to smithereens in a way so delightful it almost seems sadistic....a visual blitzkrieg of sorts...i had no idea how to react at the end of this...!
