Some of the musical numbers don't always work, but this is an amazing movie from the always amazing Lars Von Trier. Björk gives a powerful performance, and that last scene still haunts me to this days..
This is my favourite film by far, but I like to watch the same film more than one time, but I don't have enough energy for watch this again
Bjork was amazing in her one and only film. Her voice will never leave me. However, the film is worth seeing at least once because otherwise it will just get more traumatizing than it was. Lars Von Trier has a pretty cruel yet interesting way with women in his films.
However sad the plot is, it still continually felt like a Bjork music video, endlessly endorsing her music. Don't get me wrong, i like Bjorks' music, but i hated the random musical feel about it.
One of the oddest films I've seen in my life, the drama is portentuously over the top, the dialogue is just plain wrong, the plot is ridiculous, but the actors are so into the material (especially Björk in a film-redeeming performance) and Von Trier shows such confidence and swagger in his vision I honestly didn't know what to think except that he is probably the only director who can pull this off. I give it 5 stars
I've never seen a movie that made me cry the way that this film did. what a performance from Bjork and Denevue, Bjork should've won the oscar. Bravo.
powerful, moving, dreamy, and incredibly sad. obviously this is an amazing film since it combines Lars Von Trier, Bjork, Catherine Deneuve and musicals. this film was very hard for me to watch (and it is actually a very relevant topic in US right now, death sentence) but it was worth it. it was so incredibly beautiful that it made up for it's sadness. another masterpiece from Trier. I loved it so so much
just finished watching...amazing...no time for a well crafted post...simply wow!
