Joins The 400 Blows and Jules et Jim as one of Truffaut's masterpieces. Sharply observed, witty, dramatic, magical, masterfully directed and acted. Along with Fellini's 8 1/2 and Godard's Contempt the greatest film about making films.
It put a smile on my face. Now I want to go out into the streets and make movies as well, and steal Citizen Kane posters.
Amazing film. This really felt like one of Truffaut's best and most personal since Jules et Jim.
I loved it. This may give some people second thoughts on their dreams of making/being involved in movies...But it just made me wanna make them even more. Was hilarious in some parts, and seeing Truffaut do his thing was a rare treat. I especially loved his dream where he steals the Citizen Kane stills... I think Wes Anderson's American Express commercial was heavily inspired by this...
It captures really well the atmosphere of a film set, and is very funny. I loved it!
One of best ever meta-films. A must see to everyone interested not only in cinema, but also in how it's made.
It was such an amazing journey to Mr. Truffaut's vision, thank you, for your kindness.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The viewing experience left me completely blown away.
i continuously question who is superior Godard or Truffaut. Godard is artier perhaps, but Truffaut continued in a much more memorable way, much more like Renoir. There is Le Mepris and La Nuit Americaine. No Winner.
Despite everything that happens, it still makes you want to be in movies.
An entertaining film about filmmaking by one of the greatest film lovers the world has ever seen - Francois Truffaut. The characters are great and so is the music by Georges Delerue.
The second best film about filmmaking ever made. Women might not be magic and men might not be magic, but Truffaut is.
