Jeremy Irons delivers one of the best performances I've ever seen and the story of the film itself is beautiful, disturbing and compelling. One of the best Cronenberg films I've seen yet.
Jeremy Irons' performance is so gripping and pitch-perfect. The most disturbing part about the film is the amount of compassion you often feel for the twins, as twisted as they are. Rivals "Crash" in its poetry and grace. 9.4/10
A cinematic tool for operating on mutant humans, Dead Ringers pulls Janus through a fallopian Cerberus before consigning him to the furnace via hypodermic Cyclops and psychopathia sexualis. Insides out, if you please.
FINALLY got to see this film today, and it was FAR beyond my expectations (which were already high, it is Cronenberg). This is a captivating film that while gaving the usual surreal elements, gives a very true look into the world of addiction, with what is probably the most original spin on the lifestyle that I have ever seen. As has been said, and will be said again, Jeremy Irons double role as Elliott and beverly.
Jeremy Irons gives what I believe to be his most impressive performance in one of the weirdest and most disturbing films I've seen. Excellent, but recommended with caution.
Fantastic, horrifying, creepy, twisted, tragic, beautiful. I'm not sure which movie I like better, Videodrome or this one, but there's no doubt that Dead Ringers is one of Cronenberg's best!
I don't understand the attention this film gets. I didn't find it to be either eerie or engaging in the least. The acting was decent, but the characters were flat. The surface investigation into twin psychology and "identity" just didn't float it for me.
I love Cronenberg's films, new and old but I don't think he could ever create something that even comes close to this. Jeremy Irons gives one of the best performances ever recorded, the cinematography is haunting and intense but most of all Cronenberg does not resort to his classical body horror to keep us enthralled. The story is so surreal and yet so utterly human.
After having just watched this for the second time, it is almost impossible to put into words just what I feel about this movie. It's like he knows exactly what I want in a movie, then makes a movie ten times more complex... and I am very seriously enamored with what that complexity.
my favorite Cronenberg. Jeremy Irons was amazing, one of the greatest performances in the history of cinema.
