Loosely based on Wild Strawberries (I think), it's about an artist who can control his life pretty well in his art and imagination rather than his real life. Not the best Woody Allen film.
Don't like the editing, but I think I kinda get why it's there. Love the film though.
Not used to that kind of spliced up film editing, it worked so well! Such a perverted character. His best film I've seen (besides Annie Hall, duh.)
"All people know the same truth. Our lives consist of how we chose to distort it. "... How can this guy come up with so many fucking good lines ! great film with a great cast !
This movie's eccentric characters, narrative originality and surreal-like scenes creates an unforgettable comedy that stays true to the "Woody Allen" we all know. Although its received mixed reviews (mainly because people say its difficult to relate to Woody Allen's rather unpleasant character) , I believe its comedic innovations and sharp dialogue compensate.
This is easily the best movie Woody Allen has done since he and Mia Farrow parted ways and his career started getting spotty. It has the wild comic invention of his early work and the sardonic wit he's known for is razor sharp here. Taking Ingmar Bergman's WILD STRAWBERRIES and rebuilding the concept as a comedy, this might be the last truly great film Woody Allen will make.
poorly balanced pedantry and disjointedness of this Woody Allen work are pretty annoying; but some funny bits can compensate that.
