The eerily prescient jibe of "President Arnie" pretty much shows what we were slipping into, some sort of feckless, euthanized world made for sick children. Probably more effective watching it 10 years later like I did.

Low-grade Verhoeven, balls-to-the-wall, delirious cinema. This is the warped brother of Judge Dredd, and a far superior film. Brambilla's career since is a shame. He showed such gonzo promise.
