Don (Shahrukh Khan) is a ruthless Malaysian crime boss and drug lord nabbed by authorities and held captive while his naive look-alike, Vijay, is sent to infiltrate the mobster’s gang. But Vijay soon realizes he’s caught in a double cross. Learning that both the law and the gangsters want to see him either in prison or dead, Vijay teams up with the beautiful Roma, who helps him fight both mafia and cops in order to prove his innocence.
"Don" is a nearly 3-hour Hindi action-thriller that plays out like a collision between De Palma's "Scarface" and "Face/Off." The plot is consistently mind-boggling and impossible to predict as it twists and turns throughout the film's runtime, punctuated by the usual Bollywood dance numbers. The acting during the first 30 minutes is a bit hammier than I'm used to from Hindi cinema but, overall, "Don" is entertaining.
