An excellent film, Shinoda uses the form of a banraku puppet play to rigidly enforce the rules of society on the main couple. The cinematography in this film is exceptional, with beautiful shots. You can really feel the forces of Honor, Duty and Money destroying any chance of free will. In addition the fact that the introduction actually dictates the entire sore only emphasizes the futility of anyones hopes and dreams in a world controlled by tradition.
