All of the things that make this great are all the more amazing considering this is a film about skiing, which I have never and will never find all that exciting (Herzog’s Sculptor Steiner the other exception, but even that had a lot more waiting around than I would have liked). The photography is beautiful, just flooring. It’s like a documentary and if it were about anything else it’d be a classic. It’s still great, but Redford and Ritchie could have done with a more interesting subject.
