Junk heads, meds and superstitions about hats on beds, I want to wrap myself up in this chemical underworld. For Bob and Diane drugs are insulation from boredom and everyday thinking, its a much simpler way life where one single strand dominates thoughts, getting high. Sometimes to get high they need to go low, but who cares when the drugs kick in. For me this film at it’s best captures life on the crest of a chemical wave, in some ways the complications of the plot ruin the overall feeling as it progresses, but not so much as to not take a dose of this film every so often.
