Synopsis

At the turn of the last century in the American West, two brothers fall in love with the same woman. Lilith choosed the younger brother, Elijah. The embittered Luke travels alone to Europe. His demons drive him to Macedonia where he becomes a ruthless mercenary fighting amongst the vicious local gangs. However, the revolutiion takes on a personal face when pregnant Neda saves dying Luke. 100 years later, in New York City, a desperate robber, Edge, tries to part an ederly woman from her life savings. Milčo Mančevski

Milčo Mančevski was born in Skopje, Macedonia and studied cinema and photography at Southern Illinois University. He began his career directing music videos and short films before making his feature film debut, Before the Rain (94), which won many awards, including the Golden Lion and FIPRESCI Prize at the Venice International Film Festival and an Academy Award® nomination for best foreign language film. His other films are Dust (01), Shadows (07) and Mothers (10). –TIFF
