Dreadful film which gives Gibson endless opportunities to overact. And yep Ray Winstone walked away with all the honours.
Gibson's first leading role in quite some time. I think this movie could've been much more successful if his personal life wasn't such a mess right now, because I think it's definitely the type of film that would appeal to a mainstream audience. And as everyone already said, Ray Winstone's performance was really the best part.
I expected so much more from the director of Casino Royale. The only redeeming element is Ray Winstone's performance...
absolutely terrible, gibson looks like his daughter's grandpa instead of dad and more like a recovering drug and alcoholic addict than a beat cop, he looks like he aged 20 years in this movie from his last picture. all i could think was "your too old for this sh*". along with signs, one of gibsons worst.
The premise is decent, the effort is great, but the overall delivery seems stale by an hour in. I think it would've been better had Gibson's character given more character and less plot patterning, same with the likes of Huston and Winstone's characters. Today, films that start out with much promise from the trailer to the first ten to twenty minutes in duration seem to go limp because of what they have in contrast to what they lack. And no, personally, I think Taken is a step below, but that step isn't that far below. They borrow too much from what we expect and far too little of what we could be put through instead. Too much plot adherence.
Standard revenge-thriller for the most part, but with just enough going for it, including the great Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone's uber-cool character.
Buen policial, bien clásico con todos sus componentes y escenas que te sorprenden al menos si la vez en pantalla gigante :)
