As someone who loves cheesy b-movies, I have to say that Equinox was just okay. A lot of potential in it, but frankly it just wasn’t ridiculous enough. For a film like that to really work, it really needs to be constantly on. But here, we don’t get a glimpse of a creature until 40 minutes into the film. And while the cheesy dialogue was great at first, but after a constant stream of talking it really loses it’s entertainment value.

That’s not to say Equinox is bad. I mean, yes, it’s bad. That’s what makes it good. There are some genuinely fun scenes. There just needed to be a lot more. Overall, just okay, even by b-movie standards.

If you happen to be into Sci-Fi B movies from the 70’s this is definitely worth a watch. I watched it with a group of friends, and we all enjoyed it immensely. The 1970 theatrical release makes a little less sense than the 1967 version because of all that was edited out, but if these kind of movies test your patience, the 1970 version is a bit shorter. By watching the 1970 version you will be missing out on just a bit of extra monster footage though.

Equinox not only represents the passion of youth, but the ambition and diligence it takes to obtain a dream. I love so many gems in this movie, specifically the taurus attack. The dialogue is classic b movie, and the colors mezmarize me every time apon viewing. I really like the ambience of the film. some scenes are very eerie and brilliantlly strange. It is a wonder in its self how Muren and Allen both came up with obsurdlly creative ways to make some effects look believable with such a limited buget (example, the green giant). Equinox is a wonderous horror with a youthful flair that attracts most of it’s cult fans. I will always cherish this film, and peer with astonishment at the terrors and monsterous thrill it provides, for all my life.
