Synopsis

Paul, a young biologist married to Anne, meets Virginie who has just been thrown out to the street by her boy-friend Auguste. Paul buys her lunch and in return the girl makes love to him.

The next day, he suggests to take her with him to Geneva and to accomodate her at his home. After a few days, Anne and Virginie becomes quite friendly. They take opportunity of Paul’s leaving to go out with Ferdinand, that Virginie just met. Ferdinand makes love to Anne but, once the week-end is over, things become normal again. –Jupiter Films

Motion Picture Director, Screenwriter. He was the leader of the “Group of 5”, a quintet of young directors who sought to revitalize Swiss Cinema in the late 1960s. His best films were probing, low-key character studies, tinged with irony. Soutter’s “Les Arpenteurs” (1972) was nominated for the Golden Palm at Cannes, and “L’Amour des Femmes” (1982) scored a Golden Bear nomination at the Berlin Film Festival. Among his other credits are “Hashish” (1968), “La Pomme” (1969), “L’Escapade” (1974), “Reperages” (1977), and “Signe Renart” (1984). He usually wrote his own scripts. Soutter was born in Geneva. Starting out as a cabaret songwriter in his hometown and Paris, he joined Television Suisse Romande as an assistant in 1961 and made his first film in 1965. He made an acclaimed return to television with the award-winning miniseries “Condorcet” (1989).
