A rich, meandering tableau of the usual Fellini themes and obsessions. Not quite a love letter to a city, but one that manages to capture, almost entirely in visual terms, the joy, bewilderment, intoxication and madness of city life. I’ve never been there, but this certainly gives you an idiosyncratic taste for Rome if nothing else. Look out for the well known Ecclesiastical fashion show: it would be hard to find a neater summary of late Fellini.
