John Lurie’s absurdist fishing show. Lurie goes on fishing trips to various exotic locales (Montauk, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Maine, Thailand) with various exotic guests (Jim Jarmusch, Tom Waits, Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe, Dennis Hopper). Not for everyone but I love it. You get to see Tom Waits put a fish down his pants, Dennis Hopper refuse to drink the water, and Matt Dillon refuse to put out on camera. As the episodes progress the narrator seems to get more and more eccentric, eventually constructing an elaborate fantasy about the giant squid that Hopper and Lurie are supposedly pursuing. And the soundtrack is full of Lurie’s music which is highly enjoyable too.
