I guess the message is, life is bleak, war is horrid and pointless, sex with a cold partner is unfulfilling. I do, pretty much agree with all of this, but that’s all I could take away from the film. I was never allowed to get any closer to the characters, to dig deeper and understand some sense of a more inner turmoil. It’s a good looking picture, although it doesn’t ever grow, what is established at the beginning continues throughout and when a semi profound moment is attempted at the end, it’s too late. We don’t really know who any of these people are and frankly we don’t care, so when we’re asked to ultimately connect with them it falls very flat. two out of five stars.
