I don’t know what it is about this film that resonates so well with me. Maybe Bresson was at the top of his form here and his style had progressed at this point to such an extent that when viewing this masterpiece, compared to his earlier films, it feels a lot shorter than it actually is.
Bresson’s unique style, that may seem bothersome to some, is overshadowed and made much easier to swallow due to Bresson’s fluent editing. And it seems a lot more simpler, story wise, compared to his earlier films as well- although just as complex as any of them.
