The film is about metamorphosis of wedding traditions. What happened to the old wedding ways and customs that were market by joy, mystery and sadness? In the Baltic mythology, weddings were associated with death and rebirth. They were full of various laments, songs and rituals. Can we still see the reflection of these traditions in the modern, commercialized weddings? Do we have to look for them? What have we lost and what have we discovered? —lfc.lt
Audrius Stonys was born on the 28th of April, 1966, in Vilnius. 1984 – 1989 was studying in the National Conservatory of Vilnius (actually Lithuanian Theatre and Music Academy). 1989 has had an internship in the Jonas Mekas Cinema Anthology Archive in New York. Since 1989 has created 12 documentaries and a short fiction film. In 1992 his film “The Land of the Blind” (“Neregiu Zeme”) was awarded with the ECA “Felix” prize as the best documentary of the year. The director is the Jury member in the festivals of Leipzig, Neu Brandenburg, Siena, Sao Paolo – Rio de Janeiro. In 2004 – 2005 was reading a documentary cinema course in the European Cinema College in Denmark. 2006 lectures in Tokyo Waseda University. —stonys.lt
