Synopsis

Freerunner is filled with urban action, daring stunts between skyscrapers and the congested traffic below. Hard-boiled villains square off with the underground scene of cool kids who got bored by traditional parkour and turned to its badass cousin free running. The city remains an anonymous backdrop to the story, its topography is built from architectonical obstacles that the runner have to overcome. Because for the group of freerunners in this film their sport takes a turn for the ugly, as they wake up after a party and find themselves with bombs strapped to their necks. Only the winner of a crazy cross-city race will have the bomb defused. There is no time questioning the motives of bad guy Mr. Frank (Danny Dyer), because Ryan (Sean Faris) and his friends set out for the race with a frenetic pace. Once they are off among the rooftops and streets of Cleveland there is hardly any time to breathe, as the clock keeps ticking mercilessly. The audience is treated to a visually stunning array of stunts, acrobatics, martial arts and the very best of today’s parkour scene. In a guest role the patron saint of independent cinema Seymour Cassel reminds the young parkour artists that they always need to combine their skills with coolness and nonchalance. –Oldenburg Film Festival
