Valérie Mréjen was born in 1969 in Paris. Graduated from an art school, she became interested in the various means of expressions to better explore the possibilities of language. She began editing art books in small runs before shooting her first videos. Her work has been exhibited widely in France and abroad, including the Jeu de Paume in 2008. She has directed several short films, two documentaries (Pork and Milk, 2004, Valvert, 2008) and a feature film, En ville_, in 2010. She has also published three stories (_Mon grand-père, 1999, L’Agrume, 2001, Eau sauvage, 2004) Editions Allia.—
Helped by a wonderfully written script, with perfectly defined characters Mréjen introduces you to everyone around the table and to their now gone friend Edouard to the point you laugh as if you were there, drinking the same tea and eating the same apples. All these emotions built up to be brought down with such an elegance at the end of the film. -
