Winning doesn't matter, blablabla, Billy Bob Thornton looks like he's going to gag while screaming.
Aside from two students' external lives and a couple of tiny vignettes, most of the film takes place on the field and has little emotional depth to its characters. Once you see what the show has created and how it handles the game as a metaphorical side piece rather than a center piece, the film is like a bad highlight reel.
2 stars for Explosions in the sky played in the background and that's about it. Pretty terrible movie. Don't let this stop you to check out the awesome series. Coach Taylor owns Coach Gaines in terms of charisma. At least, he doesn't look like he's about to choke when yelling at his team.
